Hey Guys, this is my first fashion post in a while and it's because in the past week or so I've been in the process of moving back to NYC for my third semester at the Fashion Institute of Tech! I can finally say that I'm all settled in, which is good, but I am right in the mist of my first week and It just seems like my to do list keeps getting longer and longer. But anyway enough about me blabbering, let's get on to the High Waisted Shorts! Okay, so right before I left North Carolina I had to pay good ol Carolina Thrift a visit. On this thifting excursion I happened to come across a pair of high wasited pants that actually fit me! I had to hunt in the little boys section of the thrift store to find them, but that's fine at least I found a pair! When I bought them they looked something like these in the picture below. I purchased my mom jeans relatively cheap at the thrift store for a dollar. The key to buying high waisted pants is to go hunting in the men's section. Then, just try on a bunch of different sized pants until you find one that fits. To learn how to cut, distress and fray them I just looked at a couple of YouTube videos then followed their processes step- by- step. Well not really, at first I got all scissor happy and just started cutting and almost ruined my jeans, but luckily I saved them. Here are the links to the videos I used to cut, distress, and fray them: DIY Vintage Distressed High-Waisted Jean Shorts (EASIEST WAY) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBr3ufc82yw And D.I.Y High Waisted Shorts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKrfBc1ANbQ I styled my high waisted shorts by pairing them with a bodysuit shirt from Forever 21, $8 and tribal platform sandals from JCP, $8.50. All Accessories include: Green triangle earrings, gift; Silver ring from a flea market at my school, $5; Black beaded bracelet from a jewelry party I attended, $5; Lastly, belt was thrifted.

Okay so there's a new trend back on the rise, which I happen to be in love with, called Harem Pants. Most people Know them as MC Hammer pants, or parachute pants, but in this decade the correct term would be harem. I'm absolutely amazed at the popularity my blog has been receiving, it has only be up for two months and I'm already receiving a lot of positive feedback and ideas to make my sight better. A friend of a friend named Alicia, who is currently serving in the United States Air Force, suggested that I do an outfit of the day that is comfortable but stylish. Alongside leggings, harem pants are the next best thing because they offer more leg room, aiding in more comfort. Styling the harem pant is easy, just make sure the top you are wearing is more on the tighter side, like a tank top. And if not then just tie your shirt up in a knot like I did, the shirt I have on with this outfit is actually a size small shirt in men's, if un- knotted, the shirt reaches my hips. |
